There are two versions of Internet Explorer available, one for Windows 3.1 and one for Windows 95. This month there is the new version 3 of Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1.
If you want to run the HTML source on this CD, then Internet Explorer is the best to use because it allows you to open executable files directly as well as saving them to disk. If you do use IE, then make sure you open files as opposed to "downloading" them.
A serious security breach was discovered this week in several versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can now download a code fix for the problem, which affects Internet Explorer 2.0, 3.0, and 3.01 for Windows 95 and NT 4.0. For more details and to download the code fix, visit our security update page. Microsoft strongly recommends that users download the fix. Even though no customers have reported any related problems to date, a malicious programmer could potentially take advantage of the breach to cause serious damage to a user's computer.
Follow the instructions below to download the security fix for the English version of Internet Explorer 3.0 and 3.01 for Windows 95 and NT 4.0. (If you don't know which version of Internet Explorer you're running, see the instructions at the bottom of the page.)
IMPORTANT: This security fix is designed for English versions of Internet Explorer only. Do not attempt to install this upon non-English versions. International versions are available from the latest International language availability list.
Simply choose the update version for the version of IE3 you have and open it. It will then install.
How do I find out which fix I should use for my version of Internet
Explorer? Here's how to tell which fix to use:
1.Click on "Help" in the top menu bar on your screen.
2.Click the "About Internet Explorer" menu item.
3.In the box that appears, look at the number in parentheses in the second
line of text.
4.If the last four digits are 1215 or higher, use the 3.01a Security Fix.
5.If the number is between 1155 and 1158, use the 3.0a Security Fix.
